They need to be reminded...

Almost 17 years trying to help folks better themselves. 12 of those years spent working with athletes of all kinds.

Here’s another one. A cross country runner, this one. I’ve worked with all of her siblings at some point through the years. Each one of them are just as special to me as she is. I love these people. Incredible family.

Every time I try to leave this life, it drags me back in. I can’t say no.

It seems the athletes come to me for a different reason these days. Sure, we get plenty of physical work in, but most of them want to go upstairs, in the mind, with the work.

We can do all of the strength, speed, and power work under the sun, but if we’re not good upstairs, it’s all for naught. So, we go upstairs with it.

Sometimes, it’s a cold water douse.
Sometimes, it’s a cold soak.
Sometimes, it’s the right words spoken at the right time.
And sometimes, it’s staring at a painting in the sky that God left for us while we do breath work.

These youngsters need to be reminded by someone other than their parents how great they are. So, I remind them.

They need to be reminded that before they are anything else, they are humans and if they can master that, they can master anything. So, I remind them.

They need to be reminded that, yes, the world is a dark place, but they have the strength to make it better. So, I remind them.

They need to be reminded that we serve the only living God and when God is on their side, “no weapon formed against them shall prosper.” So, I remind them.

I, suppose, this is who I am. Until the Good Lord calls me to a different pasture, this is where I’ll be… reminding people how amazing they are.
